The Power of One
Watching The Power of One I thought was very inspiring. Usually in the past I didn’t enjoy many movies that I had watched in school but so far I’ve really like the movies we have watched in Global Ed. The Power of One would definitely be one of my favorite movies and I would recommend it to anyone who has not seen it. I find it more enjoyable to watch a movie when you know the background knowledge of it all, so I am glad we learned about South Africa before we watched it. When one of the men in prison, Geel, acted by Morgan Freeman was killed by one of the prison guards and then P.K ran over and saw him dying made me shed a tear and I had to turn my head, because it was too hard to watch. Another really hard part to watch was when Maria jumped in front of P.K. so he wouldn’t get hit in the head but she did and she died. I thought that part was hard to watch because someone had died but also because shortly before she was killed P.K. confessed his love for her. I learned that South Africa was not a safe place at all. It reminded me of the 1974 genocide in Rwanda with all the killings and Army trucks driving around. Beside all the killings it was a very good movie that I think all sorts of people would enjoy you can also learn from the film.
